Job Purpose

The Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day management and development of LUMESCA's marketing function, ensuring the department delivers high-quality marketing activity that supports the commercial objectives of the business. The team of five comprises digital marketing, content creation and graphic design professionals. The role combines strategic planning with hands-on delivery, providing leadership to the marketing team whilst actively contributing to key projects and campaigns. Working closely with the Commercial Director, sales teams and our international vendor partners, the Marketing Manager will ensure marketing activities are commercially focused, delivered efficiently and generate measurable business value.

A key aspect of the role is developing the marketing team's capability through improved processes, technology, AI adoption and best practice, whilst acting as the central link between our vendors, marketing function and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Leadership

  • Lead, motivate and develop the marketing team, creating a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and prioritise departmental workload, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Develop marketing processes, workflows and operational standards to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity through technology, automation and AI.

Commercial Marketing

  • Develop and implement marketing plans that support business growth across our brands and territories.
  • Ensure marketing activity aligns with commercial objectives and delivers measurable return on investment.
  • Work closely with the sales teams to develop campaigns, promotions and sales enablement materials that drive revenue.
  • Monitor campaign performance and recommend improvements based on data and commercial outcomes.

Vendor & Product Marketing

  • Build strong relationships with our vendor partners and become the primary marketing contact for commercial activities.
  • Coordinate product launches, promotional campaigns, marketing programmes and vendor initiatives.
  • Manage vendor marketing budgets and MDF programmes where applicable.
  • Ensure vendors receive timely reporting on agreed marketing activities and performance.

Digital Marketing

  • Oversee the delivery of digital marketing activity including email marketing, SEO, Google Ads, website content and social media.
  • Personally undertake key digital marketing activities where appropriate, particularly for strategic initiatives, workload balancing or team support.
  • Ensure all websites and digital content remain accurate, engaging and commercially effective.
  • Drive continual improvement in digital performance through analytics and optimisation.

Team Development

  • Coach and develop individual team members, providing regular feedback and support.
  • Encourage innovation and the adoption of new marketing techniques and technologies.
  • Build a collaborative environment where knowledge and best practice are shared across the team.

Marketing Operations

  • Own the marketing budget, ensuring expenditure delivers value and remains within agreed limits.
  • Manage external agencies and suppliers where required.
  • Coordinate exhibitions, events, webinars and marketing projects.
  • Produce regular reports demonstrating marketing performance, ROI and departmental activity.
  • Support other areas of the business by undertaking marketing activities directly where required.

Essential

  • Proven experience managing a marketing team within a commercial environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people development skills.
  • Experience across both digital and traditional marketing disciplines.
  • Commercially focused with a strong understanding of ROI and marketing performance.
  • Experience managing marketing budgets and external suppliers.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Ads, SEO, email marketing and website management.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of using AI tools to improve marketing effectiveness and team productivity.

Desirable

Qualifications

Job Specification

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive e-commerce and digital performance strategy across multiple Shopify websites operating in different languages and currencies, as well as a key WordPress website, to drive revenue growth and profitability.
  • Take ownership of performance marketing channels, including paid search and SEO, ensuring continuous optimisation and a strong return on investment.
  • Work closely with the wider marketing team to plan and deliver effective campaigns across all digital channels, aligned with commercial objectives.
  • Manage and optimise website trading performance, including traffic, conversion rate, average order value and customer experience.
  • Use data and analytics to identify opportunities for improvement, and take timely, commercially focused action to optimise performance across websites, campaigns and customer journeys.
  • Leverage AI tools and technologies to improve productivity, enhance marketing output, and generate insights to support decision-making.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field, or equivalent commercial experience.
  • At least 3–5 years’ experience in e-commerce and/or digital marketing, ideally in a multi-site environment.
  • Strong experience managing Shopify websites, including multi-language and multi-currency implementations.
  • Experience managing and optimising WordPress websites.
  • Strong experience in performance marketing, particularly Google Ads, SEO and website optimisation.
  • Proven ability to use data and analytics to identify opportunities and implement improvements that deliver measurable results.
